Fly fishing reel help?
Im getting a medalist reel for fly fishing but they have different sizes idk Wich one to get but I kno that I'm fishing for rainbow and brown trout probably no bigger than 10 to 15 pounds.
A 10 or 15 pound Trout would be a religous experience, but any reel 3 or 4 inches in diameter is long enough to hold fly line and 50 to 100 yards of backing. Use 20 pound braid for backing its light and "thin"
most trout are under 2 pounds unless your in an unusually good place like New Zealand.
If your a beginner try using a fly line one weight above what your rod calls for and get a bright colored line.
Have FUN!
