How does it work? To get my daughters air line ticket.?
I am planning on flying back to where I live (I got here by driving). My daughter is under two years old. Well when I put in that she is under 2 and she will be on my lap it is coming out to be double the price of just mine. Babies under two are free to fly... So I dont understand how it works. I will have her birth certificate but the person who is buying my ticket cant afford DOUBLE the price. how do i get my ticket and her on the plane.

Many (if not most) airlines don't allow lap infant tickets to be booked online. It's likely that when you enter in a ticket for your daughter, their system automatically assumes that you want to buy a ticket for a seat for your daughter, which is charged at the adult price. (This would be why the price is coming up at double the price it would be for just you.)
The safest thing you can do is directly contact the airline you wish to fly and see whether you need to book the lap infant over the phone with them while booking your own ticket, or whether those arrangements can be made after you've purchased your own ticket.
For the sake of accuracy, it should also be noted that lap infants are not always free. Though it depends on the airline, infants can be charged as much as 10 percent of the cost of a full-fare adult ticket to sit in an adult's lap -- even though they're not occupying a seat -- if you are going to certain destinations. While, in your instance, the lap infant may be free because it's a domestic flight, note that this is not always the case for international flights.
