fishing in smoky mountains?
Im going to the Smokey's on a camping trip for a few days. I was thinking of going fishing. I do not fly fish and have never fished for trout.
If i use a normal rod an reel what bait / setup do i use? web site says only artificial baits single hook. help me out where to look what to use even link to look at. lic. is $30 so i need to be convinced I can catch something. Im a lake fisherman. info needed. thanks
If you are going to be fishing in Gatlinburg there are special regulations like you mentioned. One of them is no fishing on Thursdays, because that's when they stock the fish. I caught lots of stocker rainbows around Gatlinburg on a small panther martin, but the fish are stupid(right from the hatchery) and will bite anything.
If I were you I would drive over to Douglas Lake and fish below the Douglas Dam(about 30 minutes away). There is good fishing for crappie, catfish, bass, and sunfish below the dam. You also don't have to pay the extra "Gatlinburg Fee" on your fishing license. Just be sure to get there early before the TVA starts generating. Good luck!
