Is my girlfriend absusive? She is very controling, checks my phone and computer, always acuses me off affairs?
I have been in and out of this relationship for almost 8 years. I love this woman, or think I do. She has gotten rid of me many times with her behavior. Accusing me of affairs. Granted, each time she has run me off, I have gone out. Nothing serious, but after a few months of being alone, I have pursued and accepted an occasional date. Nothing serious. My girlfriend has reeled me back in everytime after our breakup, and considers me dating when we broke up as unacceptable. She has gone as far as harassing these women who I consider nothing more then friends. In most cases I have had no further contact with them. When we get back together, everything is great for awhile, then the accusations fly. Back to accusing me of talking to other women to having sex with them. My thought has always been, if you get rid of me, then what either one of us does shouldnt matter. Its been almost a year and she wants me back, always promising it will be different this time. Is she abusive, or just nuts?
I would have to say that is a form of abuse. Her checking your phone to see who you have talked to and checking out your computer to see what you have done on there, is just a way for her to control you and to hold things over your head. Harassing your friends is not something that you should put up with at all. The way that I see it, there is no reason at all why men and women can't be "just friends". My advice is to not get caught up in it all again. Sooner or later you will find someone who is more compatable with you than this girl is.
