Fly lines for steelhead and trout?
I am looking to buy some line for steelhead fishing in the cowichan river this spring and would like to get line that i can use for steelhead and cohos in the runs each season, as well as for trout in the off season. What weight line would be good for all 3 species, thanks
The line weight you want is the size that matches your rod. As for your rod, a 4, 5, or 6 weight would be fine for trout on the Cowichan. For the steelhead and cohos an eight weight would be a good choice.
If I had to only have one rod to cover both I'd gamble on a seven weight knowing that most of the time I'd be a little over gunned for trout and under gunned for the steelhead and coho.
