Anglers System One

Anglers System One
Two questions on baitcasting reels?

1) On one side of the reel there is a brake system with numbers, What do most of you anglers have that set at?

2) What lb test should you get with a 6:4:1 gear ratio?

1) Tie you lure onto your line and set the brake by pushing on the release bar.....if the lure falls real fast tighten it up until you lure fall only after you shake the rod tip. Don't forget to recheck your settings when changing lures.
As you get better with baitcasters and your thumb gets more educated you will be able to loosen the brake up.
I now flip and pitch with my brake all the way off.

2) A 6.4:1 Reel can handle (depending on the spool size) anything from 10# - 20# but 12 or 14# would be an ideal size and what I mostly use.
Braid or Fluorocarbon is smaller in diameter than most mono's so you should be able to spool more on.

Caution: Do not over fill you spool and make sure you have even tension when putting line on your reel, if not could cause more problems with back lashes.

Good Luck and Have Fun
